Amy Parker | PA-C

I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida and graduated from UNF in 2016 with a bachelor’s in health sciences and exercise physiology. I ultimately always knew I wanted to work in healthcare, but I was unsure where to take my degree. I ended up applying for a scribing position at Jax Spine and Pain Centers and started working alongside Dr. Roberts in 2017. Through his mentorship and the support of all my Jax Spine peers, I was accepted into PA school in 2020, graduated in March 2023, and came right back to my home at Jax Spine and Pain Centers!

Why I Chose Pain Management

In 2017, I applied for a scribing position at Jax Spine & Pain Centers, hoping to gain clinical experience necessary to apply to PA school. I ended up spending the next four years working alongside Dr. Christopher Roberts as both his scribe and procedure room tech, where I learned invaluable skills about patient care, spinal anatomy, and general medicine. Pain management is a unique specialty and oftentimes associated with a negative connotation, but it’s such an incredibly rewarding field of medicine that I truly love. With the help of Dr. Roberts and many of my other Jax Spine peers, I was accepted into PA school in 2020, graduated in 2023, and returned to Jax Spine & Pain Centers as a physician assistant shortly thereafter. I feel that my experience in this field, in multiple different roles, has allowed me to really understand our practice as a whole, and ultimately provide better patient care. It is such a rewarding experience to watch patients progressively improve and get back to their normal lives, and to know I played a part in that!

Personal Interests & Community Involvement

Outside of work, my husband and I spend our free time enjoying our local restaurant spots, snuggling our pup, doing DIY projects around the house, and taking the boat out for a fishing trip. We are also blessed to be close to family and surrounded by many wonderful friends!
